Protecting your right to vape
Educating lawmakers and the public on the facts surrounding vape products and fighting to keep them available for all Iowans
ABOUT IFAST
IFAST (Iowans For Alternatives to Smoking & Tobacco) was formed in 2014 to educate lawmakers and the public on the facts about vaping and the impact that certain proposals would have on public health in Iowa.
We educate federal, state and local elected officials, other interested organizations, and media outlets to ensure that vapor products are not subject to unnecessary or counterproductive laws or regulations. We work with other organizations to ensure they understand the most current proposals, policies, and legislation that could deny access to vapor products to our customers.

WHAT WE DO
How IFAST defends the rights of Iowan vapers
We work with lobbyists at the State Capitol to ensure your interests are represented, which in turn protects the Iowa vapor industry.
We send out notifications and updates on key battles to keep you up-to-date on regulations and laws at the state level that may impact the vaping industry.
We take care of talking points, position papers, and opinion pieces for you, making it easy and straightforward to inform your local officials and the public of the issues facing our industry.
After votes have taken place, we distribute information on how your elected officials voted on vapor issues.
IFAST provides professional public affairs assistance to combat false or misleading media stories about vaping and begin to reframe the discussion on the Iowa vapor industry.
We broadcast any developments in Washington, D.C. and other state capitols related to vapor products and the industry at large.

CURRENT FIGHT
HF 2677 limits your freedom
HF 2677, a piece of legislation sometimes referred to as a "PMTA Registry" bill, was signed into law by Governor Kim Reynolds in May. This bill allows the state to enforce the FDA's PMTA regulations, effectively making all but a select few vape products illegal in Iowa.
We're working tirelessly through lawsuits, lobbying, and other legal efforts to undo this harmful legislation before enforcement begins in January, 2025.
This bill will have a disastrous impact on the industry and the people it serves, putting independent vape shops out of business, hundreds of workers out of their jobs, and thousands of people at risk of returning to smoking.
